Sri Lanka Preview:
In the T20 World Cup group with the Netherlands, Nepal, and South Africa, Sri Lanka must overcome a formidable opponent in order to bounce back from a loss to that country. Though they won the 2014 T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka's performance has declined since. They only managed 77 runs against South Africa in their debut encounter, which was indicative of their batting problems. Notably, the combined output of Wanindu Hasaranga, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Charith Asalanka was a mere six runs. Their bowling did, however, show promise as they carried the match into the 17th over and claimed four wickets. Despite the setback, Sri Lanka has a strong record against their current opponent, having won four of their previous five meetings, including a series win this year in Bangladesh.
Sri Lanka Expected starting lineup:
Pathum Nissanka,
Kusal Mendis (WK), Kamindu Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama,
Charith Asalanka, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara
Bangladesh Overview:
Prior to the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh had a rigorous warm-up schedule that included a series against the US to get used to the playing conditions. They lost the series 2-1 against the hosts and were defeated by India in their last warm-up match, though, because to their lackluster efforts in these practise matches. Bangladesh's top-order consistency is in question given their poor performance in their last four Twenty20 matches, which included a loss to Zimbabwe. Those who are having the most difficulty include Litton Das, Soumya Sarkar, and Nazmul Hossain Shanto. Tanzid Tamim's rise, with three half-centuries in seven games, gives hope despite this. Bangladesh's new skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto will be assisted by seasoned players such as Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan. Bangladesh's class and experience make them strong competitors in the event, despite ongoing issues.
Bangladesh Expected starting lineup:
Towhid Hridoy, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das (WK), Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Shakib Al Hasan, Towhid Hridoy, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mahedi Hasan.
